I woke up yesterday morning and couldn't believe my eyes. While I was sleeping (which was only for 5 hours), I had managed to make over $19 on AdSense. I thought I had accidentally picked a month's worth of stats since I haven't been making all that much in AdSense since the Panda attack. But there it was in black and white. A month's worth of earnings in only a few hours. So this is what it feels like to be Felicia from nojobformom.com. I think I like it.
Needless to say, today is back to normal, and I am sitting on 13 cents. But that's is OK with me. I am excited about the prospects of continuing to build up various blogs and sites in the months and years to come. I have a long term horizon as I outlined in my article on compounding my online income. As you can see from the table, I only need to be making $53.87 this month. Plus I have a year before I need to make $100 per month to stay on track.
I honestly think that I will be able to do this now that I have my own WordPress blog. I may not quite make it this month with just AdSense, but adding in Amazon and the HubPages Ad Program may help although HubPages traffic keeps declining. But traffic at CashFlowMantra.com is taking off. I am entering the Yakezie Challenge with that site and will be pushing it hard to gain traffic which can only help. I am enjoying using WordPress and look forward to being able to make a few more sites this year also.
Sorry to make this a short post, but I have to get out and fire up the grill for dinner. In the next few posts, I will be posting my quarterly earnings and some goals for the rest of the year.

Congrats Kidgas! $19 in one day is a great start. I'm sure as the year continues, you will see days like this (and larger income days) more and more. Good luck. :)
ReplyDeleteDeanna,
ReplyDeleteIt would be nice but I don't really expect to see a record day like this again for several months if this year. I would prefer to see some consistency like $5 per day as a routine. Then we would be talking.
LOL! I had to read your first paragraph to my husband. Congrats to you! Hopefully this is the beginning of many AdSense surprises.
ReplyDeleteCongrats! Hitting one of those outlier days is definitely a huge motivation to keep with it. keep up the good work and I hope your efforts keep paying off!
ReplyDeleteFelicia,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for making me smile.
Master,
I love those outliers for sure. I am hoping I can get another before the end of the year. My previous two record days were in October, so maybe???
Congratulations Kidgas! I had very similar experiences when starting out - low earnings day with the occasional huge day. It's a great motivator, and also (in my experience) indicative of where you are headed. Hopefully as you add more content to your blogs and they age and gain backlinks (natural or not), they will become more and more common!
ReplyDeleteMichelle,
ReplyDeleteI like the idea that it might be indicative of the potential. I could learn to live with it. I still think I need to increase traffic by about 5-fold before hitting consistent $5 days.
Wow that's fab!! What a great feeling :D I had that once where I *was* accidentally looking at the monthly earnings total instead of daily. I got all excited, planning to buy a treat for myself and then noticed. I am very glad that wasn't the case for you lol ;)
ReplyDeleteRuth,
ReplyDeleteThat's too funny. Sorry that it happened that way for you, but I am glad that wasn't my dilemma.
If we would all link to one another it would help the spider web grow larger and add more relevance to searchs in order for people to find us. More text for Google's spider web bot crawlers to index also. Does anyone have any other ideas? Let's start making some real money here!

Have you ever tried to figure out what you are making per hour? You seem to be really smart and write some great articles - I found you because I was googling YouData to find out more about them, and you wrote a balanced, honest assessment of them. From that I saw all the other stuff you write, and from a brief sampling it was impressive. But I have to wonder out loud, given the energy and time you put into this, that you really have to consider it a hobby. In that if you took one month's revenue from all your activities and divided it by the number of hours you put into this, the answer would be depressingly low. Meaning you do it because you enjoy it. But as a moneymaker it just doesn't add up. Am I guessing right?
ReplyDeleteYou are 100% correct. It is because I enjoy it and find the challenge of building something from nothing, using my skills, and doing something better than watching TV enticing. It is a hobby that actually pays me a little something back. I have truly given myself many years to even get to a decent wage, but right now, it is depressingly low.
